Links must have discernible text

Why it matters

A link with no accessible text (an icon-only link, or an image link with no alt) is announced by a screen reader as just "link," giving no indication of where it goes.

How to fix it

Give the link visible text, or if it's icon-only, add an aria-label describing its destination or action.

Example

<a href="/settings" aria-label="Open account settings"><GearIcon /></a>
